Telemental Health Expansion Grant in Partnership with IHL

Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning: Advancing Our State Together logo.The congressionally directed spending project through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA), Telemental Health Expansion for Mississippi University Students created a telemental health clinic, UNITE (Universities Network for Integrated Telemental Expansion), to help address the elevated rate of mental health concerns reported by students across Mississippi public universities. UNITE will provide universities with additional therapy providers and psychiatric medication management specialists to help meet the rising demand for mental health services.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center has established 3 main goals for mental health resources expansion in partnering with the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL).

  • Create a state-wide medication management service via telemental health
  • Provide therapy support
  • Create a mental health collaboration network between all 8 MS public universities.

Any Mississippi university student over the age of 18 will be eligible to access the UNITE Clinic services. Services offered will include time-limited therapy support and medication management services. Eligible students must be enrolled as a full-time student in one of the following Universities: University of Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Delta State University, Jackson State University, Southern Mississippi University, Alcorn University, Mississippi Valley State University, and the Mississippi University for Women.
